25: Tower of London

Tower of LondonAnd up ahead is the Tower of London. There are in fact 21 towers at the Tower! It all started on a mound in 1066 (by the victorious Norman invaders) with the con-struction of the square 'White Tower', identifiable by the four roofed turrets, and was then progressively fortified over the years. The tower commanded the river as this was the most likely approach for any attack. Alongside the fortress, a short walk along the riverside path leads to the famous Tower Bridge.
