19: Mount Pleasant post office

Mount PleasantThe largest of the capital's mail sorting offices — at one time all the mail sent to or from London passed through here. For the speedy distribution of the mail, the Post Office built their own underground railway connecting this depot at Mount Pleasant to Paddington in the west and Whitechapel in the east (a total of 6½ miles of tunnel) but the railway has been out of use since 2003 as it became more expensive than using road transport.
