14: West End Theatres on Shaftesbury Avenue

Shaftesbury Avenue theatresShaftesbury Avenue is home to a number of West-End theatres. Going from Piccadilly there are four on the left hand side in quick succession - the Lyric, Apollo, Gielgud and Queens. These theatres are privately owned and usually show musicals and comedy productions to a largely tourist audience. The old buildings have great character but, due to their protected status limiting the amount of improvements that can be made, they do not offer the most up-to-date facilities.
