11: Burlington Arcade on Piccadilly

Burlington ArcadeThe best of several covered arcades nearby, this is the 19th century equivalent of the modern-day shopping mall, with a glass roof to keep out the weather and about 40 shop units either side of the walkway. The shops are tiny and most specialize in clothing accessories, jewellery or antiques. Security in the arcade is managed by 'beadeles' who may be seen wearing the traditional uniform of frockcoat and top hat.
