1550 - Grade II listed pub

Named in commemoration of the sailing ship that took the Puritans to the New World in 1860 to escape religious persecution. This site is said to be the starting point for the journey, which went around the coast to Plymouth before crossing the Atlantic.

The Pilgrim Fathers as they became known, were the first permanent European settlers in America.
