A two minute walk from Leicester Square station
There are small shops on both sides of pedestrian-only Cecil Court which specialize in antique maps, esoteric and first-edition books, prints and engravings. It is the perfect place for serious collectors but also for shoppers who are on the lookout for something a bit different.
Fans of Harry Potter say that this little street, with its uniform Victorian shopfronts, could have been the inspiration behind Diagon Alley.
Look for the blue plaque at No.9. In 1764, an eight-year-old Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart lived here while touring London. It was during his stay in Cecil Court that the young prodigy composed his first symphonies.
