A one minute walk from Upper St. Martin’s Lane

London ultra-short walk (05)

On West Street, hidden around the bend is St. Martin’s Theatre, and home of the world's longest-running play, The Mousetrap by Agatha Christie. There is a plaque on the building marking the 50th anniversary of the show.

Most West End theatres are governed by large entertainment groups, but St. Martin's remains privately owned by the same family since when it was built over a century ago.

Next door to St. Martin’s is the Ambassadors. The two theatres were intended to open at the same time in 1913, but the outbreak of World War I meant the construction of St. Martin’s was delayed by three years.
