Royal Opera House
Floral Street
A three minute walk from Covent Garden station
London ultra-
Floral street leads down the side of the Covent Garden Opera House, towards the junction with Bow Street. Overhead is the extraordinary twisted bridge called the Bridge of Aspiration which connects the Opera House to the Royal Ballet School across the road.
The opera house stands apart from many traditional European houses because its public areas are kept open throughout the day, not just to ticket holders at night.
The Paul Hamlyn Hall, also known as the Floral Hall, was originally one of the Covent Garden market buildings. The light steel and glass architecture makes a interesting contrast to the heavy Neoclassical style of the main auditorium.
