42: BBC Broadcasting House on Langham Place

Broadcasting HouseBefore the bus turns left at traffic lights at Oxford Circus, look ahead up the last section of Regent Street where, behind the church spire, you can see the headquarters of the BBC (British Broadcasting Corporation). The original, curve-fronted building from the 1930s is just out of sight to the left around the bend in the road The early studios, equipped with the very best radio ('wireless') technology of the era, were curiously designed and decorated to reflect the on-air content — for example: the religious programming studio had an altar and other religious iconography.
