28: The Port of London building near Tower Bridge from the No.15 bus

Port of London buildingThe heavy, grand-looking building facing you, with a figure of Old Father Thames in the arch at the top, was once the headquarters of the Port of London Authority. Like Tower Bridge, here is a reminder of the recent past when the Thames was busy with boats waiting to berth at the London docks. As the docks fell into disuse, the PLA moved further downstream to the Thames estuary and there are plans to convert this building into a hotel.
